I wasn’t lucky enough to go the Cannes Film Festival this year. My invitation apparently got lost in the post. I notice that Barry Norman, Jonathon Ross, Derek Malcolm and even Rosie “Pixie” Millard, the BBC’s Arts and Media correspondent all got theirs. Not that I’m bitter obviously. As usual the festival is showing a wide variety of films. Here’s a quick guide to some of this years best offerings…

Dr Andrew Cousins

Dr Andrew Cousins is the creation of Andrew Lowes, an award-winning writer/ director who has made the Shetland Islands his home for more than forty years. Between 2000 and 2002 he created 54 weekly interviews with imagined cinema figures for Netribution.co.uk. When the site returned in 2006 he added more, this time joined by illustrator Éric Dubois who illustrated all of his interviews, with many illustrations never seen. In 2026 he returned with a book and a few new creations…
